Pocket watch kept ticking until it reached $1,100
By Karin Milliman TIPTON, Mich. — Two auction rings were needed when Braun & Helmer offered the collection of Joe Willis. David Helmer began the auction with, “We have a two ring affair today, which are scheduled to go 10 rounds.” Willis was a watchmaker, so the watches were front and center, along with all the various tools and cabinets he required to keep the business going. The first item sold turned out to be the one the bidders were after.
