Winnie the Pooh has been telling stories for a century
By Larry LeMasters
January 18th is widely regarded as Winnie-the-Pooh Day since Winnie’s creator, A. A. Milne, was born on this date in 1882. Alan Alexander Milne studied mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge, but he achieved worldwide fame as the creator of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends.
Milne’s first literary achievements were works in humorous magazines, such as Punch, just after the turn of the 20th century.
