By Larry LeMasters Collectors absolutely love the Pillsbury Doughboy, as much for his happy face as for his rotund stomach’s promise of good food, like cinnamon rolls, in a can. Legend credits Rudy Perz with creating the Pillsbury Doughboy, a symbol of the company’s freshness. Perz was eating breakfast in his kitchen, in March 1965, thinking about a new advertising campaign for Pillsbury’s refrigerated dough product line.
