Beer is one of the world’s oldest prepared foods. Archaeologists have found beer residue and evidence of fermentation that is 13,000 years old. Evidence suggests that beer, as we know it, was first produced nearly 10,500 years ago in the pre-pottery Neolithic Age. The earliest chemical evidence of beer being produced from barley dates to 5,500 years ago. And some of humanity’s earliest known writings refer to the production of beer.
