Collecting the music of war and conflict
By Martin Steiner The reactions to war include patriotism, support programs, family concerns, recognition of leaders and the various military services and individual units. Each of these areas has inspired musical compositions to be created. Families and groups would purchase printed sheet music often with patriotic graphics on the front to play on the family piano, by community bands or sung at schools and churches.
