25 capped bust silver half dollars made $6,000 at Stony Ridge
By Nancy Kelly LEMOYNE, Ohio — A collection of 25 capped bust silver half dollars dated 1807-1839 took top bid honors at a recent Stony Ridge Auction The coins showed Lady Liberty facing left, wearing a cap with the word LIBERTY, and a gown with a low neckline that is draped and secured by a brooch on her shoulder. They were sealed in cardboard coin holders and were not graded, but they still shined with a final bid of $6,000.
